After exploding onto the scene in two Lucas Entertainment hits, Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita and The Intern, Jonathon Vargas is living the sweet life—and not by accident. "I wasn't discovered," the 22-year-old New York City native clarifies. "I did research and went to adult film companies myself." It's that ambition, not to mention his adorable looks and boundless sex drive, that makes him porndom's new boy on top.
"Honestly it feels great and scary at the same time," he admits when asked about being named a Who's Next. "Before my first scene I was thinking that there was no going back," he says coyly, "but nervous? Never."
Given his sizzling ability to put spank banks on overdraft, including those of Next Magazine's porn-reviewing duo who named him as one of their up-and-cumming favorites, Vargas isn't letting his success go to his head. On the contrary, his combination of twink-next-door innocence and expansive confidence adds up to surprising charm. "Once you know me, you can tell I'm a guy with flaws like any other person," he says, noting he's as likely to be caught club hopping as catching up on a book in Union Square Park. Having finished a year that saw him steaming up the screen in Encounters 5 and Cruising Budapest IV as well as being featured in Time Out New York's infamous sex issue with fellow big gun Ben Andrews, Vargas is enjoying his exclusive contract with Lucas and taking everything in stride. "I traveled to Europe and I get my gym membership and haircuts taken care of, so I have a smile on my face."
"In '08 I'll continue to work 'hard,'" he continues with a wink. "I want to make myself more visible." Any details? "My dream [scene partner] is Benjamin Bradley, and I'd really like to do a big orgy scene with at least six hot guys—all sweaty and lubed up!" he adds naughtily, revealing his unpredictability and ambition as less physical but equally ample aspects of his calling card.
